LIGHTING / HOME CONTROL
SYSTEMS
|
For total home integration,
sophisticated home management systems can supervise virtually
anything-coordinating the communication between any number of
electronic devices. These systems far exceed simple on and off
controls. At your discretion, lights can be brightened or dimmed
to any level, stereos switched on to any CD and volume level,
and motorized drapes adjusted to any position on the track. What
makes these systems so comfortable to live with is that you
select the systems you want the panel to control, and you can
easily change or override the settings as often as you like.
For example, when you come home at the end of the day you can
enter an identification code on your keypad. This tells the
panel who entered the premises. The system can then set the
lighting in the entire home to your preferences while turning on
your favorite music at a preselected volume. For less
automation, but still the ultimate convenience, if you are
watching television, you can talk to who ever just rang the door
bell while viewing that person on a picture in picture on your
T.V. screen.
Security issues aside, your security system can also act as one
the most exciting aspects of your new home. With proper
enhancements, it can function as a complete home management
system, performing a variety of tasks well outside the realm of
home protection. These enhancements, or “accessory modules,”
give the security panel the ability to control your lights, the
thermostat, appliances, and audio and video components; provide
lighted exit ways when the fire alarm is activated; turn on all
lights in the house in the event of a burglar alarm; and provide
communication by functioning as an intercom system. And if you
really want the ultimate in convenience, this same technology
will allow you to turn on your Jacuzzi from your car, so that by
the time you’ve parked your car and changed your clothes, your
spa will be heated.. |
